Atlanta Whiskey Bars

Atlanta used to be a damn near barren wasteland of whiskey.  Fortunately, times they are a changin’. Here’s a list of some of our favorite watering holes in and around Atlanta:

Holeman & Finch Public House
Menu
This Atlanta cocktail institution now has Casey Teague as their whiskey buyer extrodinaire. Casey was one of the brains behind Mac McGee’s extensive selection.
Tip: It almost goes without saying but the 10 PM H&F Burgers are legendary.

Little Alley Steak – Roswell
Menu-Scotch (and other international)
Menu-Bourbon (and other domestic)
Another OTP gem convenient for the East Cobb and Roswell crowd.
Tip: They selection is wide and deep. Make sure you check the price on those pours before ordering. Geeking out about ordering a Eagle Rare 17 Year Old just to find out it’s $60 a pour when the bills comes ain’t cool.

Local Three
Menu
Local three is just off I-75 in the western part of Buckhead. It was started by local food heroes Chris Hall, Todd Mussman, and Ryan Turner. The whiskey menu is heavily bourbon focused.
Tip: Their barrel aged whiskey cocktails (when available) are not to be missed!

Mac McGee Irish Pub – Roswell
Menu
The second location has a slightly smaller whiskey list but still varied and impressive.
Tip: This is a more convenient option for north OTP patrons.

The Porter
Menu
The Porter is situated just off the main intersection in Little Five Points. They have an extensive and well rounded whiskey menu offering variety for many interests and palates.
Tip: The Salt and Vinegar Popcorn is RIDICULOUSLY good!

The Vortex – Midtown & Little Five Points
Menu
This was the original whiskey bar in Atlanta. Before the smoking laws changed I was frequent fixture sitting at the bar in Midtown exploring the extensive selection of whiskeys. Don’t let the menu link fool you, there’s more behind the bar than they have listed.
Tip: For many years these were consistently rated the best burgers in Atlanta. Give one a try.
